Description

IP delivery is undoubtedly a key part of the future of television distribution. But that doesn’t mean the UK will be ready to push the button on IP-only any time soon. The market has moved on since the last transmission revolution – digital switchover – with global players, fragmented models, hyper competition and the endless pressure to pivot.

Cost, complexity, serving content at scale and national infrastructure are all key technical challenges, and that’s before we consider the most important stakeholder, the viewer. Resolving critical issues around single user sign-on, inclusive content access, discovery, and viewer security will be paramount in driving future success.

It will demand a collective will, a clear roadmap and candid collaboration if we are to preserve the enviable TV ecosystem the UK enjoys today, and fully realise television's potential tomorrow. In this session we will consider the specific barriers to IP-enabled TV delivery, what will change over time and what will need to.
