IPTV Solutions Architect
Colin Phillips has more than 35 years experience in the digital TV & telecoms industries, and is one of the drivers of innovation and change that marks their history. He worked in research labs in the UK and of NHK in Japan on the fundamentals of video compression & HDTV, helped create the first real-time broadcast encoders for digital multi-channel TV, led the set-top box software team for one of the first VOD trials in Europe, and then worked to deploy these technologies around the globe, with a focus on East Asia, mainland Europe and the UK. He’s also helped to pioneer broadband access, with the first FTTP deployment in the UK. He currently works for BT as an IPTV solutions architect with a focus on the launch and subsequent development of its YouView & Apple TV hybrid DTT & all IP services, and is helping drive the broadband future of TV. He sits on the DTG Council and the DVB steering board. He is a BT Accomplished Engineer and Fellow of the SCTE.
