Jonathan Allan is the Interim Chief Executive of Channel 4, a publicly owned and commercially funded public service media organisation that creates change through entertainment.

As Channel 4’s Chief Operating Officer from 2020 to 2025, Jonathan played a key role in steering the organisation through the Covid crisis and led its successful public policy response to the proposed privatisation of Channel 4. He launched the broadcaster’s five-year Future4 strategy in 2020, and its Fast Forward strategy in 2024, underpinning Channel 4’s digital transformation. As COO, he oversaw the expansion of streaming, social distribution, and new revenue streams.

In his previous role as Chief Commercial Officer, Jonathan transformed Channel 4 Sales into an industry leader in commercial innovation, working with brands and agencies to adapt in the face of rapid technological change. He established Channel 4’s Diversity in Advertising Award, which commits £1 million of commercial airtime annually to improving diverse and inclusive representation in TV advertising, and led the broadcaster’s landmark 4 All the UK Nations and Regions strategy.

Prior to Channel 4, Jonathan was TV Director and then Managing Director of OMD UK.

He is also Vice Chair of the Advertising Association, an ASA Industry Advisory Panel Member, and a Non-Executive Director of Surfing England.
