SVOD with advertising tiers, together with FAST, present a new opportunity to advertisers to get their messages in front of consumers. This presentation asks whether buyers can rely on these new audience sources long-term. Is the subscription-with-ads business model working? Are ad tiers being treated as equals to ad-free tiers, in terms of CX and features? Does pricing and product strategy encourage uptake at the expense of ad-free tiers, or is this a new customer & churned customer acquisition tool? We want to know how widely ads are being introduced to previously ad-free special interest / thematic subscription streaming services, too. FAST is assessed, including the need-state it satisfies for consumers, conditions for success, and revenue growth prospects. It appears that the expansion of ad-supported premium streaming is unstoppable, but in this session, we will test that assumption, and highlight anything that could spoil the party for media buyers seeking new sources of quality reach.
