The Connection
Description
At The Connection, no one is left out in the cold at Christmas.
For this year’s FTVA we will be teaming up with local charity, The Connection, to raise funds and awareness for people experiencing homelessness in London.
The Connection is based in the heart of the West End and works with people who are rough sleeping to move away from, and stay off, the streets of London. It often starts with a chat, the offer of a coffee and perhaps and hot meal and shower. The chance to use a washing machine, a computer, or to charge a phone. Simple things that aren’t easy when you’re living on the streets.
Then it’s about listening to people, building up trust and understanding, so they can work out next steps together. It could be advice on finding somewhere to live or the opportunities to gain skills, grow confidence and improve chances of work.
People sleeping rough often say it feels like they’re invisible and Christmas can be especially lonely. There are more people sleeping rough than this time last year, and as temperatures drop, it’s never been more important to make sure everyone on the streets feels safe and supported.
The Connection will have a stall at FTVA over the two days; selling Christmas cards, wrapping paper and their home-made mince pie kits! Please do pop over to say hello and support them if you’re able to.
