Allente is the leading Pay TV operator in the Nordics, providing TV and broadband services to over a million customers in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. After the revelation that illegal content services caused an estimated $300 million revenue loss in the Nordic region, Allente has set its sights on tacking piracy. We hear about the current scale of sports streaming piracy and the emergence and impact of the piracy-as-a-service (PaaS) model. Allente explains how the sprawling sports pirate ecosystem fits together – from pirate content sources and pirate content aggregators to pirate IPTV wholesalers and pirate resellers. We want to know Allente’s strategy for converting illegal viewers into legitimate subscribers, and how the operator effectively leverages content protection technology to block unauthorised devices, enforce concurrency control and protect its content investment on both the server side and client side.
