Alex Foley leads Insights, Strategy & Retail Planning at Warner Bros. Discovery in UK & Ireland, and plays an instrumental role in business decision-making and shaping the company’s strategy in the market.

Previously, Alex worked in legacy Discovery where he played a key role in launching an AVOD service, dplay, as well as discovery+, with UK & Ireland being the first market to launch the streaming service. Within the decade he’s been at the company, the portfolio audience share has more than tripled.

He also played an integral role launching three new channels in the UK - Quest Red, TLC, DMAX - from identifying the opportunity, through to effective launch. Alex had a significant impact on creating Quest’s growth strategy, having worked on the channel’s rebrand and repositioning in 2014. Since then, the channel has doubled in size and is currently a top 10
channel for male audiences.

Alex’s previous roles within the business in the UK, Ireland as well as Australia and New Zealand, spanned across insights, media planning, content planning and scheduling. Since becoming a member of the UK and Ireland’s leadership team in 2017, Alex also supported key business integration projects, including Scripts in 2015, UKTV in 2019 and ongoing work on the WBD and BT joint venture to form TNT Sports.
