Why gaming should no longer be considered an innovation investment

Gaming has made big strides in recent years, but many advertisers and agencies still consider it to be part of their “innovation” budgets rather than a primary entertainment medium. Despite there being a huge and diverse enough audience to compete with any mainstream media channel, there is still a reluctance – or lack of education, perhaps – to invest significantly with confidence, and to start making it part of that mainstream bucket. In this session, Jack Benjamin sits down with Venatus CEO Rob Gay, who believes now is the time for gaming publishers to take greater responsibility to push gaming to the forefront and help agencies make more informed decisions for their clients. This session will also focus on how brand safety is dealt with within gaming, tackle the seemingly ever-lasting myth around the profile of a gamer, and how to target casual gamers.

The Tug-of-War Between Entertainment and Gaming

With the huge growth in gaming, is this set to dominate the entertainment landscape in the years ahead, or is there more to this whole space than initially meets the eye? Fandom will unpick the battle between TV and Streaming channels as they fight for the attention of viewers, who appear to be spending more time on gaming devices. What are their motivations for leaning into any of these areas of interest and is there room for all them to co-exist? How do advertisers navigate this terrain and how can platforms like Fandom help them do this?

Presenter: Shaun Jordan, VP Europe, Fandom
