Date & Time
Thursday, September 25, 2025, 2:35 PM - 2:55 PM
Jack Benjamin Professor Andy Miah Ph.D.
Description

Professor Andy Miah is chair in science communication and future media at the University of Salford. He is a bioethicist, an academic and an expert on how technology is shaping our media environments and, in turn, who we are and how we interact with each other in society. Miah and Benjamin will discuss the ways in which AI has the power to transform media and our society at large (for better and for worse), covering:

• Where are we in the tech transformation right now - how is AI transformation impacting “the fundamental building blocks of society”?

• What are all the terms tech leaders are using? Why does Mark Zuckerberg keep talking about “superintelligence”?

• Is superintelligence just a sci-fi trope, a non-existent reality – or is it plausible? And how close are tech platforms to a breakthrough?

• What are advertisers funding and what are the broader implications for marketers?

• What changes will we see that are specific to the media and advertising industry and how can you tackle the fear factor to adopt AI within your organisation?
